Some Details Worth Knowing About Dental Plans
Generally, each dental plan has an annual maximum dollar amount that it covers. This means that the maximum dollar amount of stated within your insurance agreement is the most the dental insurance company will pay out towards dental services within a given year. Any expenses above and beyond that maximum amount is the patient’s responsibility.
As with most insurance plans, dental insurance also has a deductible, which a patient must meet before the plan starts paying for procedures. This means that the patient must pay out of pocket until she has met the deductible for her specific plan, before the insurance coverage begins paying for dental work.
Another important cost to keep in mind is the coinsurance, which is something that is part of most insurance benefits. Even after the deductible has been met, most insurance plans only cover a certain percentage of the cost of each treatment—the patient is responsible for the remaining balance.
If you have any questions or concerns about your coverage or if there is any way we can help you maximize your dental benefit plan, please feel free to call our office to explore your options.
